We need YOU!

We need YOU!

and you and you and… ba ba bahhhhhh…

Wait, that feels inappropriate. Let’s start again.

The Dead Piett Society needs YOU!

We know you’ve missed us in the weeks, neigh months, that we’ve been away. There are many reasons for our absence, and I’m sure we’ll touch on them when we kick off Season 4 in the next week or two.

Yes, we’re coming back with our signature “we’ve been on a long break, let’s call this a new season” style. And this time it’s more than just a number, there are changes afoot in the society.

Our little podcast has grown and changed from our initial set up, and we’re looking to get a solid format laid down and a focus on a specific area. Before we’ve discussed geek news, done mini reviews and then done our look at the weeks weird news. You have to admit, that’s a little bit of a random mix.

So we’re going all in on weird.

The Weird Week That Was will become our main focus, but now we’re going to intersperse the stories throughout the show and surround them with some new features. We’ll talk about some odd moments in history, we’ll play games to see if the team can tell real strange facts from made up ones and we’ll hear weird stories from the team and from YOU!

Yes, finally, I got to the bit where you come in.

We need you, our wonderful fans begrudging listeners, to tell us your own tales of the odd. Maybe you saw something funny on the bus this week, maybe something peculiar once happened to you at the office. Whatever it might be, we want to hear about it.

If your story can be told in 140 characters, tweet us @deadpiettsoc. If you need more words you can email us, studio@deadpiettsociety.com. And if you really need to be heard then leave us a voicemail of your story on 02380 971 030, or Skype “DeadPiettSoc”. If your stories are odd enough then we’ll mention them on the show.

If you submit a story to us please let us know if you’d be willing to come on the show and tell us more about it over the phone. Because, let’s be honest, we’re going to have questions for you…

Well hello there!

Well hello there!

Well hello everyone, it’s Al here with a little update on what’s been going on with the Dead Piett Society lately.

Life.

Yup, stupid life getting in the way of us getting together on a Monday night and talking rubbish for an hour or so. We’ve all been rather busy lately with work and other commitments, one of us has even just bought a house and has an upcoming wedding to plan for!

So what have we missed since we last did an episode? Not a lot I don’t think…

  • Glastonbury was totes muddy
  • Britain voted to leave the EU (don’t even start us on this one)
  • Portugal have won Euro 2016 (and England were complete turd)
  • David Cameron resigned and Teresa May has become Prime Minister
  • Pokémon Go has been released and become a mega craze
  • Another horrific terrorist attack in France
  • An attempted coup in Turkey
  • NASA’s have put a ship into orbit around Jupiter

Yea, it’s been pretty quiet. Not like there was any podcast material in there at all.

Anyway, we’re hoping to get together really soon to record our next episode, so keep your eyes open for that. 🙂

New Feature, Get Involved

New Feature, Get Involved

A few episodes back we discussed the best thing’s we’d seen, read or heard that week. From next week we’re making it a new regular feature, where we’ll discuss the best and/or worst things we’ve seen/read/heard/played that week.

If you have any suggestions for things we should watch/read/play/listen to then get in touch and let us know, or give us your own best/worst for that week.

Get involved! Contact us at studio@deadpiettsociety.com, on twitter @DeadPiettSoc or call our Skype line and leave your own mini review for  us to play on the show, 02380 971 030.

Our EPIC Intro

Our EPIC Intro

So this week we received the following piece of audio, from Jon Bailey (the Epic Voice Guy of the brilliant Honest Trailers).

I think that sets the tone nicely for the show and will sound great over our intro music!

If you want Jon to record you something, check out his gigs on Fiverr.com where you can get a short recording for just $5!

Coming soon; a new podcast!

Coming soon; a new podcast!

Hello and welcome to the Dead Piett Society , soon to be the newest podcast in existance (for a few minutes until another, newer one is released).

This podcast is the brain child of yours truly, Al Galpin (or as the wife calls me, Al Bear). On a weekly basis I’m going to be joined by whichever of my friends I can drag into the studio, most likely my wife Kitty and best pal “The Man” Ed Sharples. If you want to know more about us head over to the Society Members page.

We will be taking an irreverent look at events from the week, having general discussions about our lives, telling funny stories and talking about our passions; which include comics, games, films, TV, books and more. We will endeavour to include interviews, have guests on via Skype and answer any questions you want to put to us. See the Contact Us page to find out how to get in touch.

You’re probably wondering why the name Dead Piett Society?

Admiral Firmus Piett served in the Imperial Starfleet of the Galactic Empire during the later stages of the Galactic Civil War. He initially served as first officer on the Executor, the flagship of Lord Darth Vader, before being promoted to Admiral. He died during the Battle of Endor.

Dead Poets Society is a 1989 film written by Tom Schulman, directed by Peter Weir and starring Robin Williams. Set at the conservative and aristocratic Welton Academy in the Northeastern United States in 1959, it tells the story of an English teacher who inspires his students through his teaching of poetry.

Piett kinda looks/sounds like Poet. And so I swapped them. Because I thought it was funny. You may or may not agree.
